In Times Like This By Henry Olugbenga Bankole Ajayi (Ven)

In Times Like These. How do we look at life in general and the events that take place? How we look at life in general is how we determine what’s real and what isn’t, what’s true and what’s false. How a person views biblical teaching, how we view God, determines our philosophy – how we do anything and everything in this world and view what’s happening around us.

If you don’t believe in God, that determines how you look at everything else. Likewise, if you do believe in God, that determines how you look at everything else. Your theology or lack thereof determines your world view and purpose in life and everything in your life – it all relates back to how you view God. Be encouraged to seek God and to see life His way.

Every day we are bombarded with more bad news than good which is not looking like it will get better. Mankind seems to be treating his fellowman as a lesser person or being than himself. That way of thinking is nothing less than evil. To disparage other people stems from a heart that is wicked. This is forbidden and condemned in the scripture. In Times Like These more and more, people seem to be abandoning faith in God, or at the very least are sceptical or critical of faith in God. We have set aside the Golden Rule once taught in schools and churches. God taught us that whatever we want others to do to us, we do to them. But we have mixed it up to mean “whoever is nice to me, I’ll be nice to them.” We should look at other people like they are better than we are, like royalty.

The bible mentions “latter days” multiple times, referring to the last days before time runs out, when mankind is approaching the final judgement of God. The bible says that in the last days, some will depart from the faith. They will be swayed by ideas and world philosophies that are contrary to the bible and the idea and concept that is God that is what is happening in times like these. These “doctrines of devils” speak of lies and hypocrisy, happens more in Times Like these. How can hypocrisy not exist? If you do something wrong long enough like a habitual thief, it doesn’t bother you anymore. If you dive into the depths of depravity, it doesn’t bother your conscious anymore. Are we making demands on other people and treating them less than we treat ourselves? Look at the bigger picture, what is your attitude toward God? What is your heart’s attitude? Scripture teaches that godly people will be rejected by society. All these happens in Times Like These.

We are to read the scriptures which teach us how to live so that we can be perfect in God’s eyes. We have all the tools and information we need from the Bible. In times like these, we need a saviour, we need the bible. There is only one hope for our lives, our futures, and that is Christ Jesus in times like these. What does Christ want from us? To believe in Him. He will forgive you, transform your life, and He’ll guide you to the end of time and beyond.

In Times Like These starts with verses from I Timothy 4:1-29:

Now the Spirit speaks expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;

Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;

Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.

For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving:

For it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer.

Also Matthew 7:12 Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.

Philippians 2:3-4Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves. Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others.

Revelation 21:8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.

II Timothy 3:1-17 This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, Traitors, heady, high minded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts, Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. Now as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, reprobate concerning the faith. But they shall proceed no further: for their folly shall be manifest unto all men, as theirs also was. 10 But thou hast fully known my doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuffering, charity, patience, 11 Persecutions, afflictions, which came unto me at Antioch, at Iconium, at Lystra; what persecutions I endured: but out of them all the Lord delivered me. 12 Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution. 13 But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived. 14 But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them; 15 And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. 16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: 17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works. Acts 4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.
