The Archbishop of the Ecclesiastical Province of Ondo and Bishop of Akure Diocese, The Most Rev’d Simeon Oluwole Borokini Ph.D, CFAT. has on Sunday 30th June 2024, Preferred Revd Canon Zaccheus Asabi and Revd Canon Nwabuneze as Venerable during the Deaconate Ordination service for 6 Postulants and Priesthood Ordination for 5 Deacons at St Luke’s Anglican Church Idi-Agba Tutun, Akure Ondo State.

The ordained Deacons: Rev’d Rufus Adeojo, Rev’d Samuel Oluyimide, Rev’d Charles Fagoroye, Rev’d Fatorisa Ebenezer, Rev’d Oloko Samuel, Rev’d Olorunfemi Busayo. 

The Ordained Priests: Revd Stephen Durogbitan, Revd Paul Olushola Orire, Revd Samuel Agboola, Revd John Omolayo, Revd Solomon Olaniyi. 

 The Psalm for the service was chanted from Psalm 110. Revd Stephen Adegboyega Durogbitan took the Gospel reading.

The Sermon was taken by Ven Thompson Olu Akinboro ( Archdeacon of Akure South. St Thomas’s Anglican Church Isinkan, Akure.) The preacher who took his sermon from the book of Acts:13 encouraged the new deacons and priests to depend absolutely on God’s power as they take up the ministry of God. He also dwells on explaining to them that it’s the ministry of God they are being called into and not the ministry of themselves or the ministry of the Archbishop. He further said that they should expect to have different kind of people in their congregation, even sorcerers and those who will want to bring them down, but they should be at peace because it’s the Lord’s work and they will surely succeed. The Preacher rounded up his sermon by encouraging the whole congregation to live a life that pleases God and do God’s will. And lastly, he appreciated The Archbishop for an opportunity  to deliver the Sermon as it is a trust worthy role.

The program witnessed The Ordination, Presentation, Thanksgiving and Holy Communion Service to celebrate with the newly ordained Deacons and Priests. The Archbishop appreciated all and sundry in his speech and Preferred Revd Canon Zaccheus Asabi and Revd Canon Nwabuneze as Venerable. He gave thanks to God, the Church of God, Clergy and Family.

We rejoice with the new Deacons, Priests and Venerables and wish them a successful and Spirit-filled Ministry in God’s Presence. Amen.
