Christ Simplicity And Humility -Most Revd. Simeon Oluwole Borokini
The Most Revd. Simeon Oluwole Borokini; P.hD. Archbishop, the Ondo Ecclesiastical Province and Bishop, Akure Diocese on Sunday at Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Houston Texas, Preach the sermon where he speaks on the Christ’s Simplicity and Humility according to Luke 19:29-30
The Archbishop started his sermon by greeting the Rector, the congregation and the priests present on behalf of the Church of Nigeria-Anglican Communion, Ondo Ecclesiastical Province and Akure Diocese.
He thanked God for the congregation and how they have been standing Strong and raising the next generation through proper training of the youths in the way of the Lord.
The Archbishop said this week is the week that Jesus’ mission was completed and the devil defeated. The week that the greatest event of mankind happened, the HOLY WEEK.
He further said that the Old Testament of the Holy Bible is filled with prophecies about the coming of Jesus Christ as recorded in Genesis 3:15, Deuteronomy 18:15-18, Psalms 3:18, Isaiah 7:14, and Isaiah 9:6.
In the sermon, the Archbishop said the coming of the Messiah was beyond the expectation and imagination of the people. They were expecting someone with great so much strength like Samson to use his strength to rescue them, somebody whose parents would be very rich and powerful. They had so much expectations and these were defeated as our Lord came with all humility right from His birth. He was raised by a carpenter and later worked with unschooled fishermen and unloved tax collectors, what a simplicity.
Baba Borokini also talked about the event of the Palm Sunday, how the crowd gave Jesus a welcome that can be likened to today’s red-carpet entrance as he entered Jerusalem. The people welcomed Jesus by singing the speaking from the Psalms, Psalm 118:25-28.
The big lesson from this whole event is HUMILITY AND LOVE, (Luke 14:8-11). Jesus showed simplicity, humility and love.
The Archbishop said humility and love should be expressed in marriage, when the husband is doing “gra gra”, the wife should do “sme sme” and vice versa, just for peace to reign and for constant love.
He concluded the sermon by encouraging everyone to always obey and live by the perfect will of God, 2 Corinthians 8:9.
All other activities of the day went accordingly, the church also went out in their numbers to celebrate the triumphant entrance of Jesus into Jerusalem and to preach the gospel.
