Below is the full message:
BIBLE TEXTS: Gen 9: 22 -23, Proverbs 28:13.
If you carefully read through these passages of the Bible texts chosen for this exhortation, you will find out that there is clear narration of what the Topic of this exhortation is pointing at. The topic “COVER NAKEDNESS, DON’T COVER SIN” It is what Ministers and believers need to take cognizance of by working according to the bidding. Looking at the story in Gen. 9 22-23.
I can convincingly say, that Noah in my own opinion is just like every other human being, though his actions are not too good, this points to the fact that no man is above mistakes or errors.
Therefore, When you make mistakes, it should not be continually committed. The action of Noah’s two sons, Shem and Japheth is an act of covering nakedness and it depicts the act of benevolence and kindness towards their father while Ham acted foolishly. Covering Nakedness has to do with showing concern about others in an unpleasant and chaotic situation. You and I are meant to be our brother’s keeper not like Cain who could not give an account of his brothers. Covering Nakedness in this context is showing care and support to the feeble, weak and destitute.
You and I need to realize that we are to be agents of encouragement and relief to others in horrible situations. Let me now talk about the other part of this charge which is ” Don’t cover sin”
In Proverbs 28:13 it is clearly stated that: ” He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy”.
I noticed a kind of attitude that should not be named among us, this is an act of cover-up of the highest order which resulted in the covering of sin. We know those who are actively involved in sin and those who are perpetrators of evil and these set of people are swimming in sin.
Instead of us to rebuke and correct them, we tend to cover them up maybe because we don’t want to lose them as one of our prominent church members or benefactors.
Some members even know that their pastors are actively involved in some sinful act, likewise members also, so the pastor because of his guilt finds it hard to rebuke such members, instead they cover up their sins.
I love the words written in Proverbs 27:5 which says “Open rebuke is better than secret love”. KJV Covering sin is satanic, and it can hinder our progress and success in life and ministry. Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach unto people. Proverbs 14:34. Are you aware that sin can separate us from God? Isaiah 59:1-2.
Why are you covering and celebrating sin at the expense of your blessings and peaceful living? Don’t cover sin, rather endeavour to cover nakedness. Rebuke those living in sin, but do it in Love. Don’t celebrate and swim in sin and then call it enjoyment. Don’t be part of those who are actively involved in covering sin.
For emphasis sake remember that ” Open rebuke is better than love that is hidden”. Proverbs 27:5 AMP.
Let’s carefully look at Prophet Eli in the Bible, He was not firm in correcting his sons for their sinful acts, instead to me his correction was too weak. As parents correct your children, don’t cover their sins. As Pastors correct your members when they are involved in sinful and devilish acts, so then also as leaders in any capacity, correct your followers, don’t cover up nor should you cover their sins.
I say conclusively dearly Beloved, COVER NAKEDNESS, DON’T COVER SIN. Help the helpless, support the weak and those who are of feeble knees. Be a source of encouragement and comfort to those who are seeking relief from distress. Don’t celebrate sin, frown at sin, detest sin and correct the sinners and those who have erred and gone astray from the path of Truth.
Let them retrace their steps and walk in righteousness and truth.
I trust God you are blessed by this message, please endeavour to follow and adhere to this exhortation wholeheartedly, God will grant you the Grace to do accordingly in Jesus Mighty name.
SHALOM!…
Stay blessed and Be Connected to GOD Your True Source.
