New Year Message By The AYF Akure Diocesan President

Fellowship! In Christ Jesus!
Beloved people of God,
As we stand at the threshold of 2025, I extend a heartfelt welcome to each of you. This new year
unfolds like a blank canvas, offering fresh opportunities and challenges. Our guiding theme, “My
Help Comes from the Lord,” anchored in Isaiah 41:10 and Hebrews 13:6, serves as a beacon of hope
and strength for the journey ahead.
Embracing Divine Assurance
In Isaiah 41:10, the Lord declares, “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am
your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” This
profound assurance reminds us that, regardless of the uncertainties we may face, God’s unwavering
presence is our source of courage and resilience. He promises to fortify and support us, dispelling
fear and discouragement.
Cultivating Confidence Through Faith
Hebrews 13:6 reinforces this promise: “So we say with confidence, ‘The Lord is my helper; I will not
be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?'” This verse encourages us to place our trust wholly in
the Lord, fostering a confidence that transcends earthly challenges. With God as our helper, we are
emboldened to pursue our dreams and aspirations without fear.
Navigating the Path Ahead
As we embark on this new year 2025, it’s essential to reflect on the lessons of the past while eagerly
anticipating the future. Embracing the new requires letting go of former things and perceiving the
new work God is doing in our lives. Isaiah 43:18-19 reminds us: “Forget the former things; do not
dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing!”
Empowered to Lead and Serve
Youthfulness is a season brimming with potential and Vigor. The Scriptures encourage us not to let
anyone look down on us because we are young but to set an example for believers in speech,
conduct, love, faith, and purity (1 Timothy 4:12). As we step into 2025, let’s commit to leading lives
that reflect these virtues, inspiring others through our dedication and faith.
Facing Challenges with Courage
Life’s journey is seldom without obstacles. However, with the Lord as our helper, we can confront
challenges head-on. Joshua 1:9 exhorts us: “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous.
Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
This divine companionship empowers us to overcome adversity and emerge stronger in our faith.
A Call to Action
Let this year be marked by a deepened relationship with God, active engagement in our fellowship
activities (at the Parish, Archdeaconry, Diocesan, Provincial, JEPC and National), and a steadfast
commitment to personal growth. By seeking God’s guidance in all our endeavours, w’s work in this New Year, let’s support the growth of our parishes as well.

In conclusion, as we journey through 2025 under the banner of “My Help Comes from the Lord,” let
us do so with hearts full of faith, minds open to learning, and spirits ready to serve. Remember, with
God as our helper, there is no challenge too great, no dream too lofty. Embrace this year with
confidence and joy, knowing that the Lord is with you every step of the way.

Blessings to you all in the Name of our Lord Jesus Christ,

Festus Olalekan ONI
President, Anglican Youth Fellowship (AYF) Nig.
